In short, I am GRATEFUL!

In short, I am GRATEFUL!

Our first blog! What should I share with all of you? I did a lot of back and forth on this one. I considered writing about our new website and how difficult it is to build an accessible site. I thought about writing about the years we have been in service. I played with the idea of writing about Assistive Technology products and services. However, none of these topics motivated me to write.

Instead, what did motivate me to write is the book I am currently reading: The Gratitude Diaries by Janice Kaplan.

The book made me reconsider all that I have received and all that I have “gotten used to”. I am grateful to many things in my life, such as family, friends, the fact that I breathe. But, I am also grateful for being able to provide services to individuals with disabilities; to play a small role in assisting individuals go to school, work, and live independently.

When I reflect upon this opportunity, it cannot be overlooked that the reason I get to play the role that I do is because of the counselors. Counselors who, despite being over worked, constantly are looking for ways to provide better life opportunities to a significant portion of our population. And finally, I am grateful to the clients who allow us to work with them. I am in a constant state of awe by the will power and effort you exhibit in order to achieve the success that you achieve.

In short, I am GRATEFUL!
